Nuu-chah-nulth families living in Nanaimo filled the St. Peter's Church Hall on the afternoon of Dec. 1 to enjoy an evening of family fun and turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council Quu?asa and Teechuktl staff organized the annual event and designed it to allow people to socialize and take part in fun activities like learning how to weave or color with their children.

Resource tables were set up where people could ask questions about health benefits, day school litigation, or family treatment.
Tseshaht Elder Willard Gallic was there to share traditional stories, mostly with the children. The adults seemed to enjoy the stories that had humorous themes.
Stan Matthew welcomed the people and introduced Chief John Wesley of Snuneymuxw First Nation, who also welcomed the people to his traditional territory.
Gallic said a Nuu-chah-nulth prayer followed by the singing of the Nuu-chah-nulth Song led by NTC Vice President Ken Watts.
The men gathered to sing the Tseshaht and Ahousaht dinner songs before everyone lined up for their turkey feasts.
