Grace Frank, grandmother of Chantel Moore, has told Ha-Shilth-Sa that the funeral service for her granddaughter will be webcast from New Brunswick, starting early Thursday morning.
Chantel Moore, 26, was fatally shot by an Edmunston police officer in the early morning hours of June 4 in her apartment during a wellness check.
Martha Martin, Moore’s mother, has asked that the service webcast be made public.
Moore lived most of her life on Vancouver Island and was a member of Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. She had recently returned to her birthplace, Edmunston, New Brunswick, to be closer to her mother Martha and six-year-old daughter Gracie.
Because of travel constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic, few family members could make the cross-country trip to be by Martha and Gracie’s side. For these reasons, the funeral service for Chantel Moore will be webcast for friends and family that cannot attend.
“The organization of JB Cote inc. will webcast the funeral ceremony of Chantel Courtney Martin Moore on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 11 AM ADT to 12:00 PM ADT,” reads the statement.
That means that the funeral will air beginning 7 a.m. Pacific Time, in British Columbia.
